Embrace Change with Courage

Opening Verse

“Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.”

Embrace the New

Opening Verse

Introduction

Every day presents an opportunity to encounter something different or challenging. Sometimes, these opportunities might seem daunting or out of our comfort zone. However, embracing new experiences is essential for personal growth and spiritual enrichment.

Devotional Story

Tom, a dedicated church member, always avoided participating in the church’s outreach programs in different neighborhoods. He felt uncomfortable interacting in unfamiliar environments. One day, he reluctantly agreed to join a group visiting a community far from his usual surroundings. To his surprise, he discovered a vibrant community full of lessons about resilience and faith. Tom’s initial reluctance turned into enthusiasm as he learned from the locals and shared experiences that enriched his spiritual life.

They were offered the king’s food and wine, a privilege in the eyes of many, but a compromise of their beliefs and customs. Daniel, however, resolved not to defile himself with these offerings, choosing instead to adhere to the dietary laws of his faith. His request to consume only vegetables and water was granted, and over time, Daniel and his friends appeared healthier and wiser than their peers, earning the favor of the king.

In our journey of faith, we often encounter moments that test our courage and resolve. Today’s devotional delves into the biblical story of Daniel in the lions’ den, offering insights into facing our fears with faith and finding strength in God’s unwavering presence.

Devotional Story: Daniel’s Courage

Daniel, a man of unwavering faith, served under King Darius. Due to his exceptional qualities, Daniel was favored by the king, which aroused jealousy among other officials. They conspired against Daniel, tricking the king into issuing a decree that anyone who prayed to any god or man other than the king would be thrown into the lions’ den.

Daniel, aware of the decree, continued to pray to God, demonstrating his steadfast faith. As a result, he was thrown into the den of lions. Yet, his faith did not waver. God sent an angel to shut the lions’ mouths, and Daniel was unharmed. This miraculous event led King Darius to proclaim that Daniel’s God was the living God, enduring forever.

Envision a motocross rider revving up at the start line, the course ahead a complex maze of jumps and turns. This moment is not just about skill; it’s about the belief in conquering the seemingly impossible.

The heart of Mark 9:23 is the limitless potential that belief unlocks. It’s a reminder that faith is not passive; it’s an active force that turns possibility into reality.

 

Devotional Story:

Jordan, a motocross racer, once feared the very track he loved after a terrible crash.
