God Has No Variableness

 

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” – James 1:17 (KJV)

 

Introduction

 

God is unchanging. His character, His love, and His promises are the same yesterday, today, and forever. But we, as humans, are prone to change. Our moods, desires, and actions can shift based on circumstances. While God remains steady, we are called to transform ourselves according to His unchanging standards.

 

Devotional Story

 

Imagine a tree that stands firm year after year. While the seasons change around it, causing its leaves to fall and grow again, the tree’s roots remain steadfast. Our relationship with God is similar. He is like that tree — unmoved, unshaken, and constant. However, we are like the seasons, constantly changing.

 

A man once found himself caught up in his own ambitions. His plans shifted regularly, and he felt the pressure of life pulling him in different directions. He was often frustrated, wondering why he lacked peace. One day, while reflecting on his life, he realized he had been trying to fit God’s standards around his own changing desires. He saw that the peace he longed for came only from aligning his life with God’s unchanging Word, not from shifting to meet the world’s expectations.

God’s standards do not change with the times. We, as humans, are called to change — not by following the trends of the world, but by aligning ourselves with God’s eternal truth. Doers of the Word

Introduction

The sound of rain on a leaky roof is hard to ignore. It’s a constant reminder that something needs fixing. Similarly, the Word of God calls us to action, not just passive listening.

Devotional Story

Imagine a family living in an old house with a roof that leaks whenever it rains. Every time a storm comes, they place buckets under the leaks and hope for the best. They hear the drip-drip of water, see the damage being done, but delay the necessary repairs. Over time, the structure suffers, and the repairs become more costly and extensive.

One day, a friend visits and points out the worsening condition of the house. Concerned, the friend offers to help fix the roof. Inspired by the friend’s initiative, the family finally takes action. Together, they repair the roof, and the next time it rains, the inside of the house stays dry and safe.

Every Seed has it’s Perfect Time

In life, time is a precious gift, and how we use it reflects our priorities and values. Understanding the right timing can lead to change and foster hopefulness in our lives.

Devotional Story

Once, in a small village, lived a farmer who was known for his wisdom and patience. Every season, he would carefully observe the sky, the earth, and the plants before deciding when to sow his seeds. Neighbors often wondered why he would sometimes wait longer than others to plant. The farmer would simply smile and say, “Every seed has its perfect time.”

One year, after a particularly dry spell, the other farmers rushed to plant their seeds at the first sign of rain, fearing there wouldn’t be enough water later. Like the lost sheep, Michael’s story is a powerful testament to the possibility of change and redemption.

Devotional Story:

Michael, known in his community for his reckless lifestyle, found himself walking along a stormy beach. The chaos of the waves mirrored the turbulence within him. Suddenly, a lightning bolt struck the sand nearby, leaving behind a scorched image of a fallen figure, reminiscent of Satan’s fall from grace.
