The Lord is Near

Opening Verse

“The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth.”   – Psalms 145:18 (KJV)

Introduction

In our busy lives, it’s easy to feel distant from God. Yet, the Bible assures us that He is always near to those who call upon Him sincerely.

Devotional Story

Imagine a child lost in a crowded place, crying out for their parent. The moment the parent hears the child’s voice, they rush to their side, offering comfort and safety. In a similar way, God is near to us when we call out to Him in our moments of need.

There was a man named Thomas who felt overwhelmed by the struggles in his life. Every day, he faced challenges at work, conflicts at home, and personal doubts. One evening, feeling completely defeated, Thomas decided to pray honestly to God. He poured out his heart, sharing his fears and frustrations. To his surprise, he felt an overwhelming sense of peace and reassurance. Thomas realized that God had been waiting for him to reach out, ready to provide comfort and guidance.

What This Means

God promises to be close to those who call upon Him with a sincere heart. It’s not about the eloquence of our words but the honesty of our hearts. When we genuinely seek Him, He listens and responds.

Think About This

– Have you been honest with God about your struggles?

– Do you believe that God is near and listening to your prayers?

– How can you cultivate a habit of sincere prayer in your daily life?

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for always being near to us. Help us to call upon You in truth and to trust that You hear us. Give us the courage to be honest in our prayers and the faith to believe that You are always with us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Closing Verse

“Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.”   – James 4:8 (KJV)
